LaSalle Investment Management instructed Savills to coordinate the deployment of solar photovoltaics (PV) on a range of asset classes including shopping centres, business parks, industrial units and residential blocks.
The project began with securing the electrical grid connection, obtaining planning consent, through to submitting the Feedin Tarrif (FiT) registration documents and commissioning the installations.
We saw many benefits to installing rooftop solar, including adding value to an asset through an increase in revenue generation while improving the property sustainability credentials with on-site power generation. We have installed over 700kW to date and hope to exceed 1MW in the coming months. The return on investment the systems generate is around 10% and Savills has remained on hand to ensure that these returns continue as forecasted.

On behalf of the client we selected appropriate sites that could accommodate the solar PV panels, establishing the condition of the roof before modelling the on site electrical loads and matching them with the electrical generation from the solar PV system.
To ensure the size of the solar PV system was optimal Savills would liaise with the client and the respective property manager and confirm electricity consumption data thus facilitating the correct design.
