With an estimated population of around 1,400,000, Bristol is England’s sixth most populated city and the largest in South West England. It received a Royal Charter in 1155 and was granted County status in 1373.

Bordering Somerset and Gloucestershire, the city is built around the River Avon and has a short coastline onto the Severn Estuary which flows into the Bristol Channel. With its own airport, Bristol has excellent international communications. The motorway networks make the area very accessible and high speed trains also run into and out of Bristol to London Paddingon, Birmingham and beyond. 

With the largest centre of culture, employment and education in the region, Bristol's prosperity has been linked with the sea since its earliest days. Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s famous suspension bridge in Clifton is perhaps the city’s most famous landmark. The Clifton area is a particularly popular residential area and its streets are line with Georgian terraces and populated with bars and boutique shops. The residential office of Savills is in the heart of Clifton village.

In recent years creative media, electronics and aerospace industries have been main contributors to the city’s economy and Bristol has seen further expansion in recent years, including the regeneration of the Harbourside and the construction of the award winning Cabot circus, providing over 1 million sq ft of retail outlets including Harvey Nichols.
