Airport expansion will see hotel supply fly by up to 71%

Savills has forecast that the planned expansion of Gatwick or Heathrow airport will see demand for hotel rooms soar by 71% and 42% respectively. The Airports Commission will report on its research into the three potential options this summer, with a second runway at Gatwick requiring an additional 4,800 rooms and a third runway or extended north runway at Heathrow requiring an additional 4,000 rooms, according to the firm.
