Understanding the Renters' Rights Act

If you let your property under an Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST), the changes introduced by the Renters’ Rights Act (RRA) will affect you.

The Renters’ Rights Act received Royal Assent on 27 October 2025 and is now law, with initial changes introduced from 27 December 2025 and the further reforms in effect from 1 May 2026. It’s important for landlords to understand how these changes impact their responsibilities and ensure they remain compliant.
