Alex Howard Baker has worked for Savills since 1998. He has an excellent knowledge of the area and its varied market. We asked him to share his local favourites that include where to go for Sardinian cuisine and a pub with fantastic river views.

Best Restaurant - artisans of sardinia

This cosy restaurant is just off Putney High Street. The menu is true to its Sardinian influence in elegant and charming surroundings. The staff are really helpful and the majority of them hail from Sardinia. Therefore, they have real insight in to the dishes.

I always start off with traditional sausage followed by homemade linguine pasta. Make sure you leave room for the tiramisu, which is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Best café - Blåbär

Nordic café and design concept store located on Lacy Road is a must-visit. Almost everything in there – from the chairs to the lighting, to the plates the food is served on – can be purchased. I have bought quite a few items for my home but also as housewarming presents.

They serve quality organic Swedish coffee and there is an assortment of treats on the menu – the cinnamon bun is not to be missed.

Best pub - Duke's Head

Traditional British style pub with fantastic river views. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating. Its set in a Victorian grade II building but the pub is particularly attractive due to its big outdoor space.

I often go with friends in the summer for a few drinks on the terrace followed by a scenic walk along the Thames Path.

Best Park - Putney Heath

It’s perfect for runs, dog walks and also connects with Wimbledon common. The lake is close by and its extremely popular with families. Perfect for a summer’s day out.
