On Thursday 23 March we held a rural webinar ‘Back to some semblance of normality?’ for the CEO, Estate Directors and Resident Agents’ Spring Briefing
After the challenges of COVID, we had all hoped that 2022 would bring some normality back to our daily lives and the operation of the businesses for which we are responsible. Then the awful war in Ukraine started leading to an energy crisis and economic turmoil all interlaced with an unsettled political backdrop.
In the hope that 2023 will see a return to some semblance of normality, the speakers provided some insight into some of the main issues and challenges currently affecting our rural estate businesses.
Topics covered included:
Policy & Research - Andrew Teanby, Savills Rural Research
A view from Scotland - Mark Fogden, Savills Rural Management
Nature based solutions – a new normal on farm? - Alex Godfrey, Savills Natural Capital
Farming: The good, the bad and the ugly - Tom Cackett, Savills Food and Farming
An update from the Forestry team - Harriet Schiavone, Savills Forestry
Tax and Natural Capital - Clive Beer, Savills Rural Professional
We will be holding our annual in person events in the autumn and the dates and venues will be as below:
Wednesday 4 October 2023, De Vere Tortworth Court
Thursday 12 October 2023, Hazlewood Castle
An invitation will follow nearer the time.
