Case Study

Sunlight House

Manchester

Heritage & Townscape

CHALLENGE

The project required a sensitive approach to retain and celebrate the iconic building’s architectural significance while enabling modern workspace and sustainability upgrades. This included delivering high-quality office accommodation in a key city centre location, creating a strong sense of community for tenants, and achieving ambitious sustainability credentials, all while preserving the significance of the Grade II listed building and its historic fabric.

SOLUTION

We were instructed to advise on the refurbishment and long-term evolution of Sunlight House, a Grade II-listed landmark office building in Manchester. We worked closely with the client and local authority to identify key historic features and ensure their integration within the evolving design.

RESULTS

Our involvement has included multiple listed building consent applications and advice on interventions such as solar panels and internal reconfiguration. The result is a high-quality office environment that respects the building’s heritage while securing its continued use and relevance in the city centre.
