About South Oxford Science Village
Savills multidisciplinary team, including planning, urban design, environmental, development and viability consultants are leading proposals for South Oxford Science Village. This is a proposal to deliver an exemplar new community, including 3,000 new homes and employment, community and educational facilities. The Site, which covers an area of some 163ha in the Green Belt is on the edge of Oxford, adjacent to the world class Oxford Science Park, existing shopping and leisure facilities.
The site will deliver an integrated community fit for the 21st century where residents and employees mix together in work and leisure; where shopping and community facilities are accessible to everyone.
The South Oxford Science Village will integrate international research and innovation with local business and education, leisure and social opportunities to create a new neighbourhood that is greater than the sum of its parts. Savills Urban Design Studio developed a vision for the site that draws on the international employment and academic benefits of the city to release regeneration and employment opportunities at all levels.
To date, the strong vision for the site has resulted in a draft allocation in the South Oxfordshire Local Plan and potential removal of the site from the Green Belt.
