About East Cowes
Red Funnel Ferries Ltd owned land at East Cowes was constrained by a segregated marshalling yard and numerous other site constraints, that have reduced the efficiency of operations and caused local traffic issues within the town. Savills Urban Design Studio developed a masterplan to deliver an improved ferry port facility as part of a comprehensive regeneration of East Cowes central area and waterfront. This included a new marshalling yard, ferry terminal building, new homes, employment, retail, restaurants and cafes. A key element of this was engagement with key stakeholders, the Isle of Wight Council and the Homes and Communities Agency. As well as masterplanning and developing a strong vision for the area, Savills also provided viability and CPO advice, planning and environmental planning expertise, including the production of a Townscape and Visual Appraisal.
