The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has established a Building Safety Programme to make sure that buildings are safe and people feel safe – now, and in the future.
What’s happened so far
- The use of combustible materials in the external walls of high-rise residential buildings of 18 metres (6 floors) are banned.
- Under Consumer Protection Regulations the applicant must be told before they view the property if it has any form of cladding, no matter how many floors it may have. The applicant needs to understand the full picture so they can make an informed decision before they decide to live in the property.
The action you must take:
Whether you are in the process of instructing us to let your property, or whether we have already found you a tenant, if you haven’t done so already, it’s imperative you tell us if your property has any form of cladding.
We’ll need to know if :
- there any established fire risks, and
- if there are risks, what interim measures are in place to protect the health and safety of any occupiers or visitors, and
- what works are planned to correct the risks, and where possible a schedule of the works with time scales.
