Gillingham Marina gets new owners

International real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private vendor, has completed the sale of Gillingham Marina to a private buyer for an undisclosed amount.

The well-established Gillingham Marina extends to approximately 19.28 acres (7.80 hectares) and provides fully serviced berthing in two basins for up to 490 boats and has extensive facilities.

The marina is recognised by The Yacht Harbour Association’s Five Gold Anchors award, which it has held for over 30 years.

The marina is situated on the south bank of the River Medway and lies below Chatham Historic Dockyard in Gillingham Reach.  It is located 3.5 miles downstream from Rochester Bridge and provides an ideal base from which to cruise locally on the River Medway or venture further afield with extended voyages to the East Coast and to France.

The marina also benefits from excellent road access via the A289/A278 dual carriageway connecting to the M2/A2 and then on to the M20 and M25. A mainline rail service to London Victoria, Charing Cross or St Pancras (45 minutes) is available from Gillingham Railway Station, approximately 1.5 miles away.

Kay Griffiths, Associate Director in the Leisure and Trade Related team at Savills, says: “Gillingham Marina offered an exciting opportunity for investors to acquire a well-established marina. We received strong interest in the sale as the marina has extensive facilities and opportunities to add value and we are delighted to find an experienced leisure operator that intends to invest and develop the site further to the benefit of its users.”
