Having joined Savills in 2015, Rob co-founded the E&I planning team in 2021. He advises on planning matters related to large infrastructure projects, working with Savills planning and environment colleagues.
Rob started his planning career in 1989 following a geography degree from Oxford University. He worked on some of the first environmental impact assessment projects before joining the structure plan team of a Scottish regional council (Grampian, based in Aberdeen).
Returning to consultancy his focus was for five years on major treatment works projects in the newly privatised water industry which led on to work in the waste sector. In particular he was involved with several of the first wave of new energy from waste plants across the UK and in the Channel Islands. During this period he also worked closely with Luton Airport on numerous expansion projects there.
In 2005 he joined a major waste management company as head of estates and planning focussing on new infrastructure projects. He then worked for a smaller "challenger" waste management business before returning to consultancy at Savills in 2015.
His client base at Savills has been waste, water and, increasingly, renewable energy, particularly solar and BESS developers. He led the Wimborne based planning team, which had undertaken much of this type of work for four years before starting the E&I team to meet client demands across the UK.
