Aretha Ahunanya

Aretha joined Savills Sustainable Design division in September 2024, with an integrated building design background. She currently works with the team to create bespoke pathways to achieve net-zero carbon emissions within the built environment.

Prior to joining Savills, Aretha completed her studies in MEng Engineering & Architectural Design at University College London, graduating with First Class Honours. Aretha previously worked in project management, as well as for third sector organisations specialising in water sanitation engineering and humanitarian architecture in London, Uganda and Bangladesh respectively. She is currently working towards her MCIBSE (chartered engineer) qualification at Savills and was awarded 3rd Prize CIBSE Undergraduate of the Year 2024.

As a graduate sustainable design consultant, Aretha's role is centred around the decarbonisation of the built environment. This includes undertaking energy modelling, whole lifecycle and embodied carbon assessments, as well as ensuring compliance with building and environmental legislation. A key deliverable within her work is bespoke net-zero carbon pathways, informed by data-driven analysis.

In her free time, Aretha also mentors young people aspiring to enter the industry and is a member of the Trustee Board for Open City, highlighting her passion for making the built environment more sustainable, accessible and equitable.
