Out of 990+ applications I landed 1 of 15 spaces! Here's how my week in the Economics team went.
Day 1 & 2 - I was warmly welcomed to the rest of the Economics team and immediately immersed myself in analysing an array of census statistics and governmental documents for a project my mentor was working on. Using this data, I began creating a section of a socioeconomic baseline which highlighted relevant economic indicators. It was immensely rewarding to get hands on experience on such interesting projects in the department. Additionally, I also had the opportunity to meet the CEO, James Sparrow and ask questions regarding life at Savills.
Day 3 - I began work regarding a market assessment for an industrial project, through which I learned how to use specialist software such as Glenigan and Costar to the map supply and demand of different and relevant properties whilst documenting them on Excel. Later on in the day, the other interns and I were taken on a walking tour of King's Cross by Savills' Executive Director David Williams. Through his expertise we were able to learn how certain parts of the area had been developed and why.
Day 4 & 5 - On Thursday morning, we had with a networking breakfast with a number of Directors at Savills, including Sandra Nwachukwu who gave me an insight into the Industrial Investment department. Despite the initial limited knowledge I had regarding her department, I emerged from the conversation eager to learn more and gain some experience in the Industrial Investment sector. Afterwards, I headed back to the Economics team to begin editing my work from previous days, using feedback from my mentor as a basis. As the week drew to a close, we were treated to overviews from professionals in Planning, Property Management and Sustainability, further enhancing our understanding of Savills' diverse departments.
A warm thanks to my mentor Paco Poon for spending the week thoroughly helping me to handle tasks given to me as well as Evita Dainauskaite and Hebe Williams for making the event possible! I'm grateful for the experience and insights gained during the Spring Week and look forward to applying my learning to work in the future.
Thank-you again for hosting the week!
