Over my week at Savills I was immersed in a range of events and opportunities which allowed me to gain further insight into how Savills operates as a company, but also learn about the real estate industry overall.
I worked with the ESG property management team, giving me the chance to understand strategic policy and regulations that landlords must comply with. For example, a piece of work I completed was to research and put together a presentation on non-domestic EPC ratings, focusing on multi-let properties and how the MEES regulations are set to change in the future. From this, I became more aware of how rapidly evolving sustainability initiatives are in the property industry.
Also, having the chance to network with industry professionals, including directors and department heads, was an invaluable experience, helping me to understand more about the different education and career paths that they went through to get to where they are today.
On the third day, we visited King’s Cross where we explored the site on a guided tour by David Williams. I then followed this up with case studies that I was tasked to create on the social and environmental changes that had occurred in the area over its development, ensuring that sustainability is implemented across the estate.
This insight opportunity has been eye-opening an experience that has been useful to identify where my particular interests lie in this sector. I would like to thank my mentor and team this week for supporting me and introducing me into the world of ESG property management at Savills. Also, thank you to Future Talent Team, especially Evita, Hebe and Hannah for putting together a great, insightful week!
