Black History Month (BHM) is an annual celebration of the history, achievements and contributions of Black people in the UK.

This year, the BHM theme is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ and Savills hosted a number of events across the UK in commemoration of the month long celebration.

Client event at 33 Margaret Street

On 3 October, Savills partnered with British Land and Landsec to deliver a BHM client event welcoming 100 guests at the firm’s London Headquarters. Organised and hosted by ‘BMT Proud To Be’, the event showcased thought-provoking themes, rich cultural insights, inspiring conversations, as well as Caribbean and African inspired food.

Graduate networking event

On 21 October, over 100 students from ethnically diverse backgrounds attended a graduate networking event held as part of Savills BHM celebrations. The event aimed to demystify the apprenticeship and graduate recruitment process and provide a unique networking opportunity.

Keynote Event

On 28 October, the Savills Birmingham office hosted a keynote event facilitated by Dr Tru Powell, attended by a total of 135 people. The agenda was focussed on the Black History Month theme of ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ through personal branding, celebrating Black business, upholding values, allyship and recognising excellence.

Black History Month has been an incredible celebration at Savills this year. From collaborating with two of our key clients to host an unforgettable educational event filled with rich black culture, to a networking event that was specifically for students from ethnic minority backgrounds, we have shown the importance of representation, diversity and inclusion in our working environment.
