CHALLENGE

The University of Hertfordshire instructed Savills to undertake an options appraisal regarding the possible sources of power for a new EV charging installation, onsite retail and Drive Thru facilities.

Savills undertook a tendering exercise where expressions of interest were sought from five electric vehicle charger operators. As part of this exercise the charger operators were asked to present fully funded solutions to install EV charging infrastructure at Angerland Park and Ride.

SOLUTION

Savills reviewed each development offer from the five operators in the tender. Savills compared each of the commercial offers received using cashflow projections. To summarise the proposals, Savills highlighted the pros and cons of each offering.

Savills engaged with UK Power Networks. The grid surgery considered the grid constraints in the local area and identified the two substations proximal to the site. Once chosen, the successful developer will further engage with UKPN to fully determine the grid position and submit a formal grid application.

RESULTS

Five developers provided initial expressions of interest for a fully funded solution; their commercial offers were compared on a like-for-like basis.

Savills recommended proceeding to interviews with two parties out of the five.
