CHALLENGE
Primonial was in the process of purchasing the Lumière asset in Paris from Tishman Speyer when they approached Savills in order to find international capital to enter the deal alongside their French pockets of capital. The challenge was to find an international investor able to invest into a joint venture for a substantial office asset with a profile and investment criteria which alligned with those of Primonial. It was crucial that the investor was unknown to Primonial as they wanted to broaden their investment management relations and source new pools of equity.
SOLUTION
By coordinating resources across our Paris Investment, Regional Investment Advisory and Korean Outbound Investment teams we were able to quickly identify Samsung SRA as a suitable foreign equity partner to come in alongside Primonial on the deal on a 50/50 basis. Samsung had been seeking a deal of size in Paris for some time so the communication between the various teams enabled our colleagues in Seoul to provide their client with a well-suited investment opportunity.
RESULTS
Through international coordination and the role of the RIA EMEA team, we managed to bring together a succesful partnership on one of Paris’ largest privately owned office blocks in what was one of the year’s best trophy transactions. We fulfilled two client’s requirements and have helped to established a strong relationship going forward between all parties.
