Heritage & Townscape Planning

Prepared by Savills Heritage and Townscape for SMLP Bristol GP Limited

Our Heritage and Townscape team provided advice and a heritage, townscape and visual impact assessment for St Mary Le Port, as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment. The proposed development, designed by Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios, comprises the comprehensive redevelopment of the Site for an office-led scheme with commercial ground floor flexible uses. The three existing office buildings (Bank of England House, Bank House and Norwich Union House) will be demolished and three replacement buildings (known as Buildings A, B and C) erected in their place alongside significant public realm and heritage improvements. A number of historic street patterns will be reinstated through the master planning exercise alongside a comprehensive hard and soft landscape strategy. The HTVIA, which formed part of the planning application, was submitted to Bristol City Council in May 2021. In December 2021, the proposed scheme received resolution to grant from Bristol’s planning committee.
