Expert Witness & Dispute Resolution

We provide valuation advice to solicitors and other clients in the context of property disputes.

The types of property dispute that Savills has experience in assisting with include the following:

  • Professional negligence
  • Matrimonial proceedings
  • Covenants and rights of way
  • Dilapidations

Increasingly, disputes will be settled by mediation with staff qualified in this process.

A number of core Directors in Savills are regularly instructed as valuation experts in professional negligence cases involving property-related professionals, including valuers, solicitors, architects, engineers and building contractors. Savills is also regularly instructed to assist with matrimonial matters, disputes involving covenants, rights of way, failures by landlords to repair and other contractual issues. We act for both claimants and defendants and are also frequently instructed as Single Joint Experts.

Within Savills there is almost certainly a valuation expert for every type of property. Our expertise extends to investment property, portfolios, development / refurbishment opportunities and owner-occupied land and buildings, across every sector.

Our advice draws on appropriate agency expertise from across the UK. Savills also has a first class in-house Research Department which covers each of the major markets: residential, agricultural and commercial. This research can be a critical element in the context of retrospective valuations and opinions.
