Environmental Consultancy
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a legal requirement for many types of planning proposals. Our environmental planners are experts in producing Environmental Statements, and they also offer a range of related consultancy services.
How we can help you:
We have a number of dedicated environmental planners and other specialists. They have different specialisms, but all are knowledgeable about the complex rules and regulations relating to environmental matters, and have the ability to interpret often complex technical material and present it in a digestible form suitable for being fed into the Planning system.
Our Expertise:
EIA work is central to this aspect of our service. We are an Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) Registered Assessor, and were founder members of the IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) Quality Mark scheme.
We have a number of specialists in managing the EIA process. They are able to:
- advise on the need for EIA and make screening applications;
- engage in scoping discussions with the planning authority and consultees;
- commission specialist work from appropriate specialists;
- co-ordinate and compile Environmental Statements; and
- liaise with the planning authority over submission and subsequent supplementary material.
EIA is often required in relation to urban development projects that might appear at first sight to be too small to warrant such treatment, so early screening is very important. Even where formal EIA is not required, it is often appropriate to undertake EIA informally, in order to provide the planning authority with the information it requires to determine a planning application.
As well as preparing Environmental Statements, we have experience of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Appropriate Assessment (AA), and Sustainability Appraisal (SA), for public as well as private clients.
We are frequently called upon to provide a variety of consultancy services, ranging from providing training to local councillors to advising overseas Governments on how to develop their EIA systems in line with Western European best practice.
