The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) was enshrined in the CIL Regulations 2010 (as amended) and its take-up by Local Authorities has increased rapidly over the last 12 months; progress is underway in over 70% of English Local Planning Authorities.

CIL is effectively a tax on development, so once adopted it is non-negotiable even it if makes sites unviable. Depending on where you are in the country, and the type of development, your CIL charge can be different.
