Emissions Targets

Savills identifies, develops, and delivers bespoke future-proofing strategies for clients to maximise current opportunities and minimise future risk, implementing measures they need, are practicable, and affordable in line with regulations.

How we can help you:

Savills combine our traditional service offering and understanding of the UK housing stock to monitor relevant changes in legislation and regulations regarding energy use in the housing sector.

The Government have set strict emissions reductions targets for the UK -- requiring cuts of 34% by 2020, and 80% by 2050 relative to 1990 levels.

The existing housing stock represents 27% of overall CO2 emissions in the UK, and as such will be a central focus to contribute to significant emissions reductions in line with the government’s strict national targets.

It is clear that compliance costs will increase with time and, where possible, action needs to be taken as soon as possible to mitigate these costs.

Our Expertise:

In response to increasing demand from our clients for Savills to assist in connection with these issues, we have set up a team of experts in the field to assist and advise clients in a variety of ways.

  • Warm Homes, Greener Homes

Part of the Government’s Household Energy Management Strategy, a Warm Homes  standard to replace Decent Homes is being developed for the public housing sector.

This will include minimum thermal efficiency ratings for social housing.

  • CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme

The goalposts have already been moved on the CRC, and are likely to shift again, which could bring social housing landlords into the group of obligated parties.
