What is Streatham like?

Streatham is situated just south of Tooting Bec Common and is mostly in the London Borough of Lambeth. It has remained largely unchanged until the 18th century, when the village's natural springs, known as Streatham Wells attracted wealthy City of London merchants and others to build their country residences in Streatham.

In 2011 the area began a major redevelopment program starting with the Streatham Hub project which involved the demolition of the existing Ice Arena and the former Bus Garage. This was replaced with an impressive new leisure centre including an Olympic ice rink and a Tesco Extra with 250 flats above it.
