What is Sevenoaks like?
Sevenoaks is all about commuting convenience — the 30-minute train journey is among the most efficient in the commuter belt — and a great family lifestyle. There are plenty of sports clubs and activities in the town, which has all the facilities and shopping for practical yet sophisticated living.
Our residential teams cover a 15-mile radius from Sevenoaks; in other disciplines, we cover the whole of Kent and into East Sussex.
Property in Sevenoaks
The property market in the Sevenoaks area splits into two: town and country. The town was mainly developed in the early-20th century, so houses are largely Edwardian and interwar. With families driving the market here, family houses represent our core market, with particular demand for property within a mile of Sevenoaks station. The premiere addresses in this area include Oakhills Road and Kippington Road — leafy private roads within a stone’s throw of the station — and The Wilderness, a private estate dating from the 1920s comprising five principal roads off Wilderness Avenue. Also highly desirable are the large period houses in The Vine, where a new development, Sackville Place, offers the town’s finest selection of contemporary apartements.
Surrounding the town are numerous pretty and convenient villages that offer a good choice of cottages and country houses. Bustling villages like Plaxtol, Otford and Shoreham support lively communities; Stone Street, Ide Hill, Brasted and Under River are also popular.
The country to the east of Sevenoaks is particularly sought-after for country houses because it is unaffected by roads and railways.
The local scene
The surrounding countryside is glorious, with the Weald of Kent stretching to the south. The area is dotted with numerous stately homes, including Knole, one of the biggest houses in England, whose vast park abuts Sevenoaks itself; Chartwell, Ightam Mote and Old Soar Manor are just some of the other lovely heritage sites close by.
Mainline rail services from Sevenoaks reach London Charing Cross, London Bridge and London Cannon Street in about 30 minutes.
Gatwick Airport is about 30 minutes away.
Sevenoaks is right by Junction 5 of the M25.
