What is Fulham like?
Fulham is all about classy, family-friendly living. The nearby New Kings Road has always been the place for elegant boutiques and chic eateries, but recently the Fulham Road has been catching up in terms of the smartness and variety of its shops and restaurants. For immediate convenience, Fulham Palace Road contains a good selection of local shops and services.
The Savills Bishops Park office concentrates on an area from Putney Bridge northwards along either side of the Fulham Palace Road towards Hammersmith. It is a handsome and leafy area which offers convenience, open spaces and pretty properties, all of which are highly attractive to families and young professionals.
Property in Bishops Park
As with Fulham as a whole, sophisticated period charm is the hallmark of Bishops Park. Properties here are mainly semi-detached family homes, bay-fronted in the archetypal and extremely appealing Victorian style.
A big attraction is the fact that the area offers more space than other parts of Fulham, both in the size of the houses and their gardens. Houses typically have four or five bedrooms, with the scope for extension.
The streets of Bishops Park, from Bishops Park Road to Niton Street, are largely consistent in style and ambiance. Which you choose largely depends on whether you want to be closer to Fulham Palace Gardens and the Park to the south, or to Hammersmith in the north.
The local scene
Fulham Football Club’s home ground at Craven Cottage is right in the middle of the Bishops Park area, and Bishops Park and Fulham Palace Gardens provide leafy open areas for less frenetic relaxation.
The exclusive Hurlingham Club is just around the corner, and if you’re interested in antiques Lillie Road has around 20 different shops for dedicated treasure hunters.
Putney Bridge station, on the District Line, is the closest station to Bishops Park, making an easy commute into the West End and Knightsbridge. Fulham has two other District Line stations: Parsons Green and Fulham Broadway.
You also have great road links and can quickly get to the A3, M1 and M4, making it easy to get to Heathrow or start a journey to anywhere in the UK.
Schools in Fulham
The new junior Lycée Français in Clancarty Street, and the number 14 bus route along Fulham road to the main Lycée in Kensington, make Fulham extremely popular with French expatriates.
Other major schools include Lady Margaret School for girls on Parsons Green; Kensington Prep on Fulham Road; and Erridge House pre-prep and nursery.
