The north, famous for its sandy beaches and wonderful surfing; while the south, with the famous South Hams and Jurassic Coast, is for sailing with its deep water Estuaries of The Dart, Exe, Salcombe, Newton Ferrers and Plymouth, all ideal for coastal cruising or crossing the Channel to the Channel Islands or France.

In between is Dartmoor National Park which extends to 365 sq miles, and Exmoor, on the Devon/Somerset border, both providing almost unlimited riding & walking.There are 17 packs of foxhounds and several of staghounds in the County, plus some of the finest shooting in the UK.

Communications are excellent with the M5 motorway leading from London & the Midlands, linking with the A38 Expressway to Plymouth & South Cornwall, and the A30 dual carriageway to mid and north Cornwall, at Exeter.

Trains to London Paddington and the Midlands are fast from Plymouth, Totnes, Exeter & Tiverton Parkway. Exeter Airport is the hub for Flybe with numerous scheduled flights within the UK & Europe.
