Residential Valuer - Birmingham


Job Description:

An opportunity exists for an Associate/Associate Director within the Valuation team based in Birmingham.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 9, working closely with a Director, Associate Directors, Associates, newly qualified and Graduate Surveyors.

The majority of time will be spent undertaking loan security valuations on behalf of the major lending organisations. The types of properties valued by the Department include both commercial and residential property, although it is anticipated that this post will only involve the valuation of high value individual dwellings, residential investment property and development sites, conversions and refurbishment schemes. The potential to undertake Expert Witness and valuation for other purposes also exists.

This is an opportunity for the right individual to take over the residential valuation work already undertaken by the department and expand this side of the business as part of the growth aspirations for the wider team.

Competence in standard RICS Red Book residential valuations is a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of the team you will be responsible for:-

  • Providing valuation advice to clients.
  • Producing valuation reports.
  • Inspecting client properties.
  • Carrying out due diligence enquiries.
  • Reporting to clients and senior colleagues and keeping in regular contact.
  • Be capable of winning work from both existing and new clients.
  • Be capable of dealing with all aspects of an instructions and clients alone.
  • Become a single point of contact for clients.
  • Generate a business plan and expand the residential valuation business.
  • Develop and maintain active communication both within the valuation team and other Birmingham teams.
  • Interact with the wider valuation Division nationally.
  • Attend, as well as organise, client functions.

  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • MRICS qualified.
  • A team player with leadership potential.
  • A desire to progress and generate new business.
  • Strategic approach to problem solving.
  • Highly motivated.
  • An ability to utilise varying methods of valuation.
  • Computer literate – you will be expected to be conversant with Excel, Word, Argus Investor and Argus Developer.
