Senior/Associate Planner - Petworth

Job Description:

To work with the head of department, the planning consultancy team and other professional staff to provide Savills’ planning service throughout the south east of England.

Key Activities:

  • Providing professional planning advice to the full range of Savills clients, with individual responsibility for specific projects
  • Participation in development plan representations (through written submissions and at examination hearing)
  • Taking planning applications through the planning process, including major applications
  • Carrying out planning appraisals and reviews for clients
  • Taking an active role in larger consultancy projects both as part of teams of external consultants and working closely with colleagues on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Contributing to the production of masterplan documents, as an active part of the masterplanning team.
  • Undertaking and initiating business development activities
  • Any other additional duties to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Working with the Planning Department and other Savills employees to develop new business areas
  • Providing briefings on relevant issues to Savills employees and clients
  • Pro-actively producing press releases and publicity materials for the Department.
  • Participation in developing Savills Planning Department as a whole.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Criteria

  • RTPI Qualified
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for planning and rural development issues
  • Commercially aware, both in terms of individual contribution to the Firm and meeting client objectives.
  • Flexible and keen to take on new areas of work and develop new skills
  • Ability to manage a varied workload of multiple instructions independently and with responsibility
  • Ability to project manage individual instructions in a timely and proactive manner
  • Ability to understand and act on instruction
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to work in a team
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and positive attitude

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of Masterplanning
  • Experience of Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Experience of rural areas
  • Financial management, as part of a commercial organisation
  • Proven track record of customer satisfaction
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to bring work to the Firm
