Associate Director - Margaret Street

Job Description:

An opportunity for a bright, ambitious and qualified Associate Director to join the London Commercial Development team. This is a successful and expanding team specialising in the acquisition and disposal of commercial led development opportunities, and development consultancy on large complex mixed use development sites across London. Whilst the team focuses on both transactions and consultancy, we are seeking a candidate with the ability and enthusiasm to focus on the growth of the agency business within the team. The successful candidate will be part of a team of 9, working closely with 3 Directors, 1 Associate Director, 3 Surveyors, 1 graduate and a secretary.

The ideal candidate will have either a funding, agency or developer background and be capable of supporting, winning, leading and executing agency instructions on predominantly commercial sites across London. The team works with funds, developers and landowners in both private and public sectors.  Current mandates cover West End and the City fringe and some of the most exciting regeneration areas in the capital, including King’s Cross, Royal Albert Docks, Old Oak Common, Nine Elms etc.

The candidate should be interested in challenging projects, and demonstrate the ability to think long term, whilst retaining a focus on how to best to extract value for clients and profit for the team. The candidate should also have a good contact base of agents and clients and a thorough awareness of the central London development and commercial market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing transactional advice to both private sector clients and public sector
  • Supporting the disposals and acquisitions of commercial sites across London
  • Support pitches, targeting and winning new business and agreeing the scope of instructions / fees
  • Conducting site search analysis and land assembly
  • Technical ability to liaise with other design team professionals e.g. architects, QS, planning advisors
  • Point of contact for clients and management of client relations
  • Liaison with all departments within Savills and external development teams
  • Have an entrepreneurial outlook and always be mindful of opportunities to improve client service
  • Able to work independently but strong team working skills are also essential
  • Develop and maintain active communication both within the London Commercial Development team and the wider Savills business.

Candidate Profile:

  • MRICS and Degree/ Masters Degree (2:1 minimum)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage several projects at once – organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Network of private sector clients and agents, with the ability to generate new instructions
  • Strong knowledge of industry news and market developments
  • Highly motivated, displaying energy, drive and commitment
  • A team player, both within the immediate team and wider Savills business.
  • Strong knowledge of the development process
  • Attention to detail and well organised
  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a strategic approach to problem solving
  • Computer literate, particularly Excel, modelling skills
