Surveyor / Senior Surveyor - Margaret Street

Job Description:

We can provide a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated senior building surveyor to join our existing and successful specialist dilapidations team in London. Part of the Building and Project Consultancy division, we offer excellent prospects for advancement and personal development for people who can provide outstanding levels of quality and client care.
The team has a broad range of clients, landlord and tenant, and work on a variety of fast paced and interesting instructions across all sectors. You will work in either our Margaret Street or Finsbury Circus offices to suit your requirements and business needs.  The team structure and management is supportive and you will benefit from a wealth of knowledge and experience.  Ideally you will already specialise or wish to specialise in dilapidations.  However, opportunities exist within the team for you to work on a range of instructions including, among others, Contract Administration, party walls and condition schedules. The wider department can also provide access to all core services including technical due diligence and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients of their options and propose an appropriate strategy together with involvement of the client as required, resulting in the delivery of the service to achieve agreed strategy.
  • Progress and manage the service as planned, along with agreeing any variations and providing feedback to the client, ensuring client's needs are satisfied.
  • To draft fee accounts and ensure settlement is monitored.
  • Carry out other functions as required by a Director to ensure the smooth running and operation of the Building and Project Consultancy division.
  • Specialist Dilapidations Advisory Services comprising:
  • General dilapidations advice;
  • Preparation of dilapidations schedules;
  • Negotiation of dilapidations settlements;
  • Preparation of dilapidations liability assessments and strategic advice;
  • Managing tenant break options;
  • Monitoring works on behalf of LL or TT;
  • Procuring and managing works on behalf of LL or TT; and
  • Producing condition Schedules

Candidate Profile:

  • Chartered building surveyor - ideally experienced in the London market and of working within the private, commercial sector
  • Must have solid understanding of dilapidations law and practice or a keen desire to learn and specialise in this discipline
  • Must have the capacity to manage individual instructions, build client relationships and provide an outstanding level of client care
