31 March 2011
Savills, on behalf of a private client, has sold Kenwith Castle and Fremington Manor Care Homes in North Devon as a going concern to Care South, a registered charity.
The freehold Kenwith Castle is situated in grounds totaling 45 acres (18 hectares) and features landscaped gardens, two lakes, water gardens, and parkland. Kenwith Castle is registered as a care home with nursing for 59 residents in 54 en suite bedrooms, seven one and two bedroom courtyard cottages and a studio flat, all of which are fully let.
Fremington Manor is held leasehold with attractively landscaped and secluded formal gardens extending to approximately 3.8 acres (1.6 hectares). The registered care home with full nursing care has 54 bedrooms with 39 ensuite facilities.
Kenwith Castle and Fremington Manor have been developed and upgraded over the years to provide a blend of modern facilities with attractive period features and both achieved the highest Care Quality Commission rating at last inspection.
Craig Woollam, head of healthcare at Savills, comments: “Care South is a leading provider with 17 facilities in the South West and the South of England. It is involved in all aspects of care provision from care homes to domiciliary and residential close care. Our task was to source a purchaser with a deep commitment to quality and the financial infrastructure to enable continued service to the tenants and investment in the properties in the years to come and we believe that in Care South we have achieved this.”
