Southampton’s £65 million Ocean Village development enters final stages

Development of the £65 million Southampton Harbour Hotel and Alexandra Wharf scheme in Ocean Village, Southampton is entering its final stages, with more than half of the residential apartments sold, space under offer to retail and leisure operators and the city’s only five star hotel due to open there later this year.  Savills is advising the developer, Nicolas James Group, on the residential and commercial elements.

Alexandra Wharf is the final stage in the regeneration of a former ferry terminal, which began in late 2015 and is due to complete in October this year.  The development is creating 82 new residential apartments and four commercial units, for which advanced talks are underway with a national supermarket chain, contemporary coffee shop concept, new marina management office and a number of restaurant operators.  The £27 million, 85-bedroom Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa will also open in October, through a deal also agreed by Savills. 

Alan Watt, head of new homes at Savills, comments: "The opening of the new show apartment has created a wave of interest from  prospective buyers keen to see and feel the quality of the residential development.  Given the rate of sale and current interest in the scheme, we expect to have very few apartments available by the end of the summer."
