Savills is awarded gold by Mayor of London for sustainability efforts

23 November 2015

Savills won the top award at the Mayor of London's Business Energy Challenge Awards, winning gold for its contribution towards reducing carbon emissions. The ceremony, hosted by Boris Johnson, took place on Monday 16th November 2015  at City Hall.

The Business Energy Challenge is a programme to stimulate action against carbon emissions in London, encouraging competition between companies taking green measures and recognising efforts in reducing the carbon intensity of their London portfolios and saving operational costs. Entries were received from both large corporate companies and small to medium sized enterprises (SME) with a total of 110 businesses taking part, a significant increase from the 59 entries in 2014 when the challenge was first launched.

Having provided energy data and examples of energy innovation, including moving to more efficient offices on Margaret Street, Savills was awarded gold.

Lizzie Jones, sustainability manager at Savills, comments: “We are extremely pleased to be awarded gold and recognised by the Mayor for our efforts towards cutting carbon emissions. The number and calibre of businesses present on Monday reflects how much importance is being placed on the need for businesses to take responsibility for their operational impacts and we are proud to have had the opportunity to showcase what Savills has achieved to date”.
