Savills steams ahead at BCO awards as Exchange Station, Liverpool comes best in class

22 May 2014

The building and project consultancy team is celebrating the success of their comprehensive refurbishment project at Exchange Station in Liverpool which was awarded Best Fit Out of Workplace at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Northern Dinner. The event took place on Wednesday (21st May 2014) at the Hilton in Manchester.

The £5 million redevelopment, on behalf of Aviva’s Ashtenne fund and the Homes & Communities Agency, aimed to transform the former railway station, originally built in 1888 and redeveloped in 1985, into a state of the art 190,000 sq ft office building.

The workplace project management team in Savills Manchester acted as project manager and cost consultant on the scheme, winning the commission, developing the strategy and managing the successful delivery.

Exchange Station is now one of Liverpool’s premier office buildings, providing a sustainable, EPC B rated, modern work environment involving a new atrium connecting three previously separately accessed cores and creating a fantastic new concourse with meeting areas, cafe and event space.

Gary Bulloch, director of building and project consultancy at Savills Manchester, comments: “We are extremely pleased with this latest award. The complex refurbishment of Exchange Station required a holistic approach encompassing the operation and marketing of what is a landmark building in the centre of Liverpool that offers a wealth of character and opportunity. By focussing on the needs of the existing tenants we have been able to create a scheme that will provide a best in class and sustainable business destination whilst also demonstrating an array of expertise within the business.”

This latest accolade follows Move Commercial Awards where the project was named Commercial Development of the Year. Exchange Station has also been shortlisted for RICS and other regional awards.
